Surgical Treatment

Deformities in the upper or lower jaw can leave you with scarce bone in which dental implants or dentures are to be placed. Oral surgery can be performed by a general dentist or an oral surgery specialist (Oral Surgeon or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon). A number of cases require dental Surgery such as Fracture of Maxilla/ Mandible, Facial Paralysis (Trauma to Facial Nerve), Wisdom tooth Removal, Facial/ Accidental Trauma, Reimplantation/ Cyst Removal, TMJ disorders.

Wisdom tooth extraction is one of the most commonly used Oral Surgery services that are done in dental clinic. Usually, a general dentist or an oral surgery specialist will perform the wisdom tooth extraction and that may be completed under either a local anesthetic in the operator’s private rooms or under a general anesthetic as an in-patient in hospital. Wisdom teeth also known as the third molars are the last teeth to appear in your mouth. In some cases it might be necessary for you to undergo wisdom teeth surgery.

Orthognathic surgery is needed when jaws don’t meet correctly or teeth don’t seem fit correctly and function properly. Maxillofacial implants can be used successfully to solve most such problems. These implants can be used to define your facial features better or improve the obvious contours and angles of your face. Among the most common ones used are cheek implants, chin implants and jaw implants. Such implants can also be used to support prosthesis for an artificial ear or eye in cases where facial structures are either missing or damaged due to trauma or an aggressive pathological condition.
